Annual Wellness Visit
-
Preventive care recommendations include an annual wellness visit (sometimes referred to as a "Gyn annual” or “Well woman exam”) for women and others assigned female at birth, in addition to their general yearly preventive visit (or “physical”).
At this visit we will review and update your health history including new symptoms and diagnoses, sexual and menstrual health, and family history of reproductive cancers.
We will discuss recommended screenings, testing, and vaccines, creating a plan individualized to you based on your age, lifestyle, and medical/family medical history. (Some examples of what your plan may include: pelvic exam, pap & HPV test, STI testing, mammogram/sonogram referral, or HPV vaccination.
Your annual may also include pre-pregnancy counseling and/or counseling and prescription for contraception (birth control), HIV prevention (PrEP), or menopause symptom management.
To make sure we give all issues the time and attention they deserve, for some of these topics we may schedule a follow up visit to continue with a more in-depth discussion than time would otherwise allow.
Focused Visits
-
Focused visits vary in length depending on the topic and your symptoms, testing needed, counseling needs, and goals for the visit.
The list above shows some examples of what can be addressed at a focused visit, but if you don’t see it, just ask!
